A new approach for Personalized Surgery – development of FGS probes which can both direct the surgeon and diagnose the tumor. Only a small number of FDA-approved fluorescent dyes/probes are available for surgical purposes, highlighting the urgent need for efficient and innovative FGS probes. Implementing a "personalized surgery" by using a successful FGS probe (targeting HER2 mRNA) for USC tumor will create an opportunity to identify invisible spread either lymphatic, peritoneal or hematogenic and may dictate a more comprehensive and tailored adjuvant treatment.
